No, you do not need to have good skin first. A walkthrough of the appointment from consultation to aftercare.
The most common thing first-time clients say is some version of "I should probably sort my skin out before coming in." You should not. Skin that needs attention is precisely what a facial is for.
Before you arrive
Pause retinoids and strong acids for three to five days. Come without makeup if you can. If you have had recent injectables, laser, a sunburn or a fresh tan, mention it when booking — some of these mean rescheduling rather than proceeding.
The consultation
We look at your skin under proper light and ask what you use, what has reacted badly before, and what you want to change. Be straightforward about your routine, including the parts you are not following consistently. It changes what we recommend.
During the treatment
- A double cleanse to clear the surface properly
- Exfoliation matched to your skin, not a fixed strength
- Extractions if there is congestion, which can feel like pressure
- A treatment mask and targeted serums
- Massage, hydration and SPF to finish
Afterwards
Some flushing is normal and usually settles within a few hours. Leave your skin bare for the rest of the day, avoid heat and exercise, and use SPF the following morning. If extractions were done, small spots may look worse for a day or two before they clear.
When to come back
Four to six weeks is the usual rhythm. One facial feels lovely; a series is what actually changes tone and texture.
